Factsheets: GCSE
During Key Stage Four, pupils should gain the knowledge, skills and understanding of how science works. Studying energy, electricity and radiations is part of the statutory content (see the QCA website for further details).
Module 2.3 of the national science curriculum states pupils should cover the following in their study of science:
- that energy transfers can be measured and their efficiency calculated, which is important in considering the economic costs and environmental effects of energy use
- that electrical power is readily transferred and controlled, and can be used in a range of different situations
ENA has produced a series of gas and electricity factsheets aimed at GCSE students. These factsheets also provide an introduction for anyone over 14 with an interest in the UK's energy infrastructure.
